An online gathering to explore the magical, mythical women of the medieval Welsh ‘Mabinogion’

The magical tales collected together within The Mabinogion constitute our earliest British prose stories, compiled in Middle Welsh in the 12th–13th centuries from earlier oral traditions. They are constructed around the few fragments of pre-Christian myth and folklore which remain to us.
In this gathering, we explored the stories of Rhiannon, Branwen, Blodeuwedd and Arianrhod, and think about what these vividly drawn Otherworldly women have to offer us today.
I’m delighted to be joined, for this Bone Cave, by Angharad Wynne. Angharad has spent much of her life searching for fragments of her native Welsh spirituality, delving in the pre-Christian strata to follow pathways back through the portals of ancient myth and early poetry. She is a storyteller and writer, runs workshops, retreats, pilgrimages and short and long courses, leads ceremony and co-creates ritual, to share her understanding of the old ways of this land and how they can bring us back to who we are, and our place within the web of life, now.

Our gathering took place via Zoom, in a format which enables us to enjoy each other’s faces, and to break out into discussion groups to deepen our connections with other participants. The session includes story, teachings and participant discussion groups.
